This commissioned oil-on-canvas portrait was created for a client in honor of her son, who passed away. The goal was to create a meaningful and heartfelt image that brought him together with his daughter at her current age, giving the family a moment that never existed in a single photograph but carries deep emotional truth.
I began by using Photoshop to build a composite from multiple references, adjusting lighting, poses, and composition to create a natural and believable scene. Once the digital layout was finalized, I sketched the composition onto canvas and developed the portrait through layered oil painting. The background, florals, and lake setting were chosen to reflect warmth, peace, and memory, while the portraits were carefully rendered to capture likeness and personality.
This project was both technically and emotionally meaningful. It blended digital preparation with traditional oil painting to create a tribute that honors connection, love, and remembrance. The final portrait gives the family a timeless memory of father and daughter together.
